A. SISTEM OPERASI KOMPUTER

1. Pendahuluan
Sistem operasi merupakan sebuah penghubung/interface antara pengguna dari komputer dengan perangkat keras komputer. Sebelum ada
sistem operasi, orang hanya mengunakan komputer dengan menggunakan sinyal analog dan sinyal digital. Seiring dengan berkembangnya
pengetahuan dan teknologi, pada saat ini terdapat berbagai sistem operasi dengan keunggulan masing-masing. Untuk lebih memahami
sistem operasi maka sebaiknya perlu diketahui terlebih dahulu beberapa konsep dasar mengenai sistem operasi itu sendiri. Pengertian sistem
operasi secara umum ialah pengelola seluruh sumber-daya yang terdapat pada sistem komputer dan menyediakan sekumpulan layanan
(system calls) ke pemakai sehingga memudahkan dan menyamankan penggunaan serta pemanfaatan sumber-daya sistem komputer

B. PROSEDUR MENGAKTIFKAN DAN MEMATIKAN KOMPUTER

1.Mengaktifkan Komputer
Pada penjelasan di atas, kita sudah mempelajari bagaimana cara memasang komponen periferal komputer dengan CPU. Memasang periferal tersebut merupakan langkah awal dalam mempersiapkan penggunaan komputer. Setelah semuanya terpasang, proses selanjutnya adalah mengaktifkan komputer. Langkah-langkahnya adalah sebagai berikut : Nyalakan komputer dengan menekan tombol power yang terdapat di bagian depan CPU. Nyalakan monitor dengan menekan tombol power pada monitor. Tunggulah beberapa saat, sampai proses booting selesai sampai komputer muncul tampilan area kerja (desktop) pada layar komputer. Tampilan tersebut menandakan bahwa komputer siap digunakan.

2. Mematikan Komputer
Setelah kita menggunakan komputer, selanjutnya kita akan harus mematikan komputer. Dalam mematikan komputer ada prosedur yang harus dilakukan agar komputer tidak mengalami gangguan pada perangkat lunak (software) ataupun perangkat keras (hardware). Di bawah ini akan dijelaskan langkah-langkah mematikan komputer dengan cara yang benar, yaitu : Pastikan semua tampilan program aplikasi telah ditutup. Pada taskbar, klik tombol start. Klik Shut Down (pada Windows 2000) atau Turn Off Computer (pada Windows XP).


1. Stand By : Monitor dan beberapa komponen lainnya akan dimatikan, agar komputer dapat menghemat penggunaan listrik. Dalam kondisi stand by komputer tetap dalam keadaan siap untuk melakukan perintah atau menerima data masuk. Komputer akan menyala lagi apabila kita menggerakkan mouse/keyboard.
2. Turn Off/Shut Down : Perintah ini digunakan untuk mematikan komputer secara perlahan dengan melakukan perubahan konfigurasi (setting) windows akan disimpan terlebih dahulu, setelah itu komputer akan mati dengan sempurna.
3. Restart : Perintah ini digunakan apabila kita ingin mematikan komputer dan menghidupkannya lagi tanpa harus menekan tombol power. Cara ini biasa disebut dengan istilah WARM BOOOTING. Hal ini biasanya dilakukan apabila ada perubahan konfigurasi (setting) windows. Misalnya ketika selesai melakukan instalasi suatu program aplikasi, maka komputer harus di-restart terlebih dahulu. Warm Booting juga bisa dilakukan dengan cara menekan tombol reset yang terdapat di bagian depan CPU komputer.
Dari ketiga perintah yang terdapat di dalam kotak dialog Turn Off Computer diatas, maka pilihlahkah tombol Turn Off untuk mematikan komputer dengan cara yang benar.

operating system, people only use the computer by using the analog signals and digital signals. Along with the development
knowledge and technology, at this point there are a variety of operating systems with the advantages of each. To better understand
the operating system should need to know first some basic concepts about the operating system itself. The system
operations management in general is all-power source of the computer system and provides a set of services
(system calls) to users to facilitate and make the use and utilization of resources-power computer systems.

B. PROCEDURES AND SWITCH off the computer

1.turn on Computers
In the explanation above, we have to learn how to install computer components peripherals with the CPU. Install peripherals is a first step in preparing for the use of computers. After everything is installed, the next process is to enable a computer. The steps are as follows: Turn on the computer by pressing the power button located on the front of the CPU. Turn on monitor by pressing the power button on the monitor. Wait some time, until the process is finished booting up a computer display showing working area (desktop) on a computer screen. Display indicates that the computer is ready for use.

2. Computer death
Once we use the computer, then we will have to turn off the computer. Turn off the computer in a procedure that must be done so that the computer not to crash the software (software) or hardware (hardware). Below are described the steps off the computer in a way that is correct, that is: Make sure that all display the application has been closed. At the taskbar, click the start button. Click Shut Down (on Windows 2000) or Turn Off Computer (in Windows XP).

1. Stand By: Monitor and several other components will be turned off, so that the computer can use to save electricity. In conditions still stand by the computer in the ready to perform or accept data entry. The computer will turn on again when we move the mouse / keyboard.
2. Turn Off / Shut Down: This command is used to turn off the computer slowly to make changes to the configuration (setting) the windows will be saved first, then the computer turns off completely.
3. Restart: This command is used when we want to turn off the computer and menghidupkannya again without the need to press power button. This is normal with a WARM BOOOTING. This is usually done when there is a change in configuration (settings) windows. For example when the installation is complete a program application, the computer must be restarted first. Warm Booting can be done by pressing the reset button located on the front of the computer CPU.
Of the three commands listed in the dialog box above Turn Off Computer, then pilihlahkah Turn Off button to turn off the computer with the correct way.
